"In 2008, my husband and I had the worst year of our married lives.  In early 2008, my husband lost his job as a Carpenter.  The housing market was nearing a crash and we were caught in the middle.  My husband had spent the better part of 20 years working in the housing industry mainly on new construction and high end remodels. When the market crashed, jobs dried up and Carpenters became less in demand.  We found that it was becoming harder and harder to keep up with our mortgage payments and once you fall behind, it’s nearly impossible to catch up.  Our home was nearing Foreclosure and finally went into Foreclosure in November 2008.  In order to bring our home out of Foreclosure, we sold everything we could, liquidated all unnecessary assets and borrowed from family. We exhausted all our resources.  We were able to raise $10,000 to take our home out of Foreclosure.  In January 2009, our Mortgage payment reset.  Due to our lack of education on Mortgages we elected for an Adjustable Rate Mortgage. The payment reset to over $2,000.  We were devastated and did not see a future in remaining in  our home.

 

     Maya Damayanti became our savior.  Her savvy business sense, perserverance and knowledge in Mortgages gave us an opportunity to apply for a Loan Modification.  We had tried to get information on loans before but we were told that we would not qualify.   We were on pins and needles as the thought of possibly losing our home again was unbearable.

     Maya did all the paperwork and continued to keep us updated on what was happening.  We began to get worried as we were approaching our 4th month without a payment. Through Maya’s effort, we were offered a Forbearance which has stopped the Foreclosure and has given the Bank time to continue to process our loan.  Most importantly, the Forbearance agreement does not require us to make payments towards our delinquent loan.
Although my husband has yet to find a job, it has been easier on us financially and emotionally as Maya has helped ease our fears of losing our home.
